Brain Injury Conferences
After attending numerous brain injury conferences on the mainland, we dreamed of having a conference in Hawaii where internationally-known brain injury specialists and Hawaii physicians shared information with our medical and legal community on the cutting-edge research and rehabilitation that is taking place in the treatment of persons with traumatic brain injury. The successful 1st Annual Brain Injury Symposium, co-sponsored by Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific was held on December 9, 2000. Other such conferences have followed.

As Legal Counsel...
Related to this core interest, the firm became involved by providing legal counsel to the Brain Injury Association of Hawaii. We supported the Board in various administrative issues, and projects including the successful nurse educator/advocacy program, the Hilo Survivor Support Group, the Caregiver Handbook project, and the HeadSmart Conference for teachers.

Community-Wide Awareness
Whether it is being involved in assisting the legislative committee of the Brain Injury Association of Hawaii or advocating the rights of a person with a brain injury, we hope that these efforts will spawn community-wide awareness of the devastating effects of traumatic brain injury.
