A Case Study
Due to the focused care by her attending trauma physicians, our client had survived a terrible accident only later to run out of treatment options in Hawaii. Her post-acute phase doctor felt our client’s only option was for her to be moved to a long-term care facility: a skilled nursing facility.
Financial Resources
Our firm obtained the financial resources and did the research that resulted in her transfer to a state of the art rehabilitation center in California. She was transported by jet air ambulance to the mainland and underwent extensive therapy that allowed her to eventually be released into a home setting with her family back in Hawaii.
This was a complicated arrangement, which required our firm to negotiate an advance from the insurance company and find additional coverages. Our firm’s nurse case manager continues to oversee the administration of our client’s at-home nursing care.
The firm's nurse advocate continues to work with the family identifying community resources to assist with our client’s on-going therapy, medical treatment, and the procurement of necessary medical and therapeutic equipment.
On-going education of new members of our client’s treatment team is key in ensuring that our client’s quality of life is optimized.
Our firm prides itself on providing assistance to our clients and their families even after settlement at no cost to the client. Our office is currently implementing this particular client’s life care plan, negotiating for a handicap accessible van, and assisting in the design and construction of an accessible house.
Recovery
This case study is an example of the determination and expertise that is needed to help our clients recover to the fullest extent.
